Christopher Martinez, PhD
Senior Consultant and Leadership Coach Dr. Christopher Martinez is currently an assistant professor at a major university developing curriculums and delivering both face to face and online instruction. He mentors and guides undergraduate and graduate students in preparation for careers and leadership positions in criminal justice, intelligence, homeland security, organizational leadership, and emergency management. Before entering the ranks of college teaching, Christopher gained and shared his over 27 years federal law enforcement leadership positions in investigations, program management, oversight, and professional responsibility. He had the opportunity to work in both domestic and foreign offices. His career culminated as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Newark, New Jersey where he led a team of over 80 financial crimes investigators, intelligence analyst, administrative staff, and local law enforcement task force officers. After the creation of DHS, he had the honor to serve as the first DHS Attache Central America working in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State and host government counterparts on a variety of capacity building and security partnership programs. Christopher has consulted with local and federal law enforcement, industrial facilities, school systems, and private sector businesses on assessing programs, developing curriculums, delivering training programs, and emergency and crisis planning. He is well versed and has developed training in the areas of: building cohesive units, risk management, motivation for high performance, building culture, mentoring with emotional intelligence, conflict management, and the discipline process. His research and training interest include covert operations, intelligence collection, transnational crime, financial investigations, integrity, ethics, leadership, mentoring, diversity, and retention. Christopher served on active duty with the U.S. Navy as an air traffic controller and is currently a U.S. Army Reserve Intelligence Warrant officer. Christopher has a doctorate in Homeland Security Leadership and Policy from Northcentral University. He also earned a master’s degree in teaching from Saint Leo University. His bachelor’s degree in aviation management was granted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He and his wife Petri have been married 30 years and have raised five children. |
